The route
* Approximate route — see the exact path in Google Maps below
Cross the Chao Phraya for just five minutes and the world changes entirely. Bang Krachao is a river bend still cloaked in jungle in the middle of the metropolis, its wooden walkways threading through coconut groves and mangrove without ever touching the mud.
A route for escaping the city
This is the most challenging route on the list — for the logistics, the distance you can stack up, and the paths you must read yourself. The reward is cleaner air, birdsong, and the feeling of getting far away while still inside Bangkok.
- Start at Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park, then extend outward
- Carry enough water — refill points are scarce
- Rent a bike first to scout the route
What you'll see
- Elevated paths through mangrove jungle
- The pond loop in Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park
- A different Bangkok, minutes from the city
Before you go
- Take the ferry (~10–20 baht, about 5 minutes)
- Paths are narrow — watch for cyclists
- Boardwalks are slippery when wet — trail or flat shoes are best
